Section 4 - The Living Room

The Living room is a room. The description is "Dark wooden flooring fills the living room from edge to edge. Near the ceiling is what appears to be an air conditioning vent. On the far side of the room is a fireplace with a flat screen TV on the mantleplace."

The center is scenery in the living room. The description is "[if current couch position is the near the center of the room]Sitting in the center of the living room is a large red sofa.[otherwise]You can see marks on the floor from when you pushed the sofa." Understand "center of room" or "center of living room" or "middle" as the center.

The vent is closed, openable and a container. the vent is in the living room. It is scenery. The description of the vent is "The vent is near the ceiling. It's too high up to get a good look at."

A bullet is a kind of thing. The description of a bullet is usually "A .45 caliber round of ammunition." Understand "round" or "ammunition" or "round of ammunition" as a bullet.

The gun case is inside the vent. The gun case is closed,locked and lockable. the description of the gun case is "a [unless unlocked]locked [end unless]metal container with a magnetic card reader on the front." Inside the gun case is a pistol, six bullets a silver bullet. A silver bullet is a bullet. The keycard unlocks the gun case. Understand "gun" or "heater" or "firearm" or "weapon" as the pistol.

The fireplace is a container in the living room. It is scenery. The description of the fireplace is "It appears that it hasn't been used in a while. I wouldn't try burning things in it."

The mantle is part of the fireplace. On the mantle is a flat screen TV. The description of the mantle is "The only thing this fireplace has been used for in a while is holding up that TV." Understand "plasma/lcd/flatscreen/television" or "flatscreen tv" as the tv. Understand "mantle place" or "mantleplace" as the mantle.

The tv is a device, and switched off.

Instead of switching on the tv, say "You can't find the remote, and there aren't any buttons"

The description is "It's a 42[quotation mark] flat screen plasma television. You read the name of the manufacturer off the front of the TV.[paragraph break]'[one of]Magnetbox[or]Sorny[or]El Gia[or]Frizio[or]A genuine Panaphonics[sticky random], huh? That's a good brand', you say to yourself."

The fireplace, mantle and TV are scenery.

Internal position is a kind of value. The Internal positions are nowhere at all, the near the center of the room, underneath the vent, and near the fireplace.

The red couch is an enterable supporter in the living room. The current couch position is an internal position that varies. The current couch position is the near the center of the room. "A large red leather sofa is [current couch position]." Understand "red/leather/sofa" or "red sofa" or "leather couch" or "leather sofa" or "red leather sofa" as the red couch.

Understand "push [couch]" as a mistake ("You can push the couch to the near the center of the room, the vent or the fireplace.").

Understand "push [something] to [something]" as pushing it over to. Pushing it over to is an action applying to two things.

The pushing it over to action has an internal position called the old position.

The pushing it over to action has an internal position called the new position.

Setting action variables for pushing something over to something:

now the old position is the current couch position;

now the new position is nowhere at all;

if the second noun is the center, now the new position is the near the center of the room;

if the second noun is the vent, now the new position is underneath the vent;

if the second noun is the fireplace, now the new position is near the fireplace.

Check pushing it over to:

if the noun is not the couch, say "That's not something you can push." instead;

if the player is on the noun, say "You can't push [the noun] while you're standing on it." instead;

if the new position is nowhere at all, say "You can only push [the noun] to the near the center of the room, the vent or the fireplace." instead;

if the new position is the old position, say "The [noun] is already [new position], but you adjust the position until it's perfectly centered." instead.

Carry out pushing it over to:

now the current couch position is the new position;

record "Mover" as achieved.

Report pushing it over to:

say "You shove [the noun] from [old position] to [new position]."

Instead of taking the vent, try opening the vent.

Instead of opening the vent when the player is not on the couch:

say "There's no way you could reach that from here."

Check opening the vent:

if the current couch position is underneath the vent:

continue the action;

otherwise:

say "Closer, but you still can't quite reach." instead.

Instead of examining the vent when the player is on the couch:

if the current couch position is the near the center of the room:

say "From the this vantage point you can get a better look at the vent. It looks like it would come off of the wall easily.";

otherwise if the current couch position is near the fireplace:

say "You can still see the vent on the other side of the room.";

otherwise:

say "Finally you can get a good look at this thing. The screws have already been removed, and it looks like there might be something hidden inside."
