Section 1 - Back Yard

The Back Yard is a room. The description is "A small back yard with an herb garden and a wooden bench."

In the back yard is a herb garden. It is scenery. The description is "Growing in the backyard are small plots of herbs. Sage and Thyme or some shit, how should you know?" Understand "herbs" as the garden.

grass is scenery in the back yard. understand "lawn" or "dirt" or "soil" or "yard" or "ground" as grass. The description of the grass is "Part of the yard looks as if it's been dug up recently."

The pile of dirt is fixed in place. The description of the pile is "Quite a mountain of dirt you've made there."

instead of taking the pile of dirt, say "You don't feel like moving this mountain again today."

The bench is an enterable supporter in the back yard. It is scenery. The description is "A rustic wooden bench. It appears to be hand-made, or at least built to look that way."

Hidden under the bench is a shovel. The description of the shovel is "A useful tool for gardening, but not as useful in a zombie attack (The handle looks too weak)."

The Large Hole is a room. The back yard is up from the large hole. The description of the hole is "[if unvisited]As you look at your handy work for the first time since putting down the shovel you wonder how you managed to dig for so long, and who is going to clean up this mess.[otherwise]You're surrounded by dirt on all sides.[end if] Above you is what's left of the back yard."

Inside the hole is a half-buried chest. It is a closed, openable, lockable, unlocked container. The description of the chest is "It sure looks like a buried chest."

Understand "buried chest" or "half buried chest" or "half chest" as the chest.

Understand "dig" or "digging" or "dig a hole" or "shovel" as digging. Digging is an action applying to nothing.

Instead of digging when the location is not in the outdoors, say "Digging a hole sounds like fun, but you'd have to go outside first."

Check digging:

if the player is not holding the shovel:

say "You try to dig with your hands, but the ground is too firm." instead;

otherwise if the pile of dirt is on-stage:

say "One giant hole is enough for today." instead;

carry out digging:

increase the time of day by 120 minutes;

say "[paragraph break][paragraph break]Time passes…";

Now a pile of dirt is in the back yard;

record "Journey to the Center of the Yard" as achieved;

remove the grass from play;

say "[paragraph break][paragraph break]You keep digging…";

say "[paragraph break][paragraph break]More digging…";

say "[paragraph break][paragraph break]Time passes…";

say "[paragraph break][paragraph break]*thud*";

say "[paragraph break][paragraph break]Wait, what? You actually found something?[paragraph break]";

say "(you are now covered in mud and at the bottom of a hole)[paragraph break]";

Now the shovel is in the large hole;

Now the large hole is below the back yard;

Now the player is in the large hole;

Now the player is dirty;

instead of taking the garden, try cutting the garden.

instead of pulling the garden, try cutting the garden.

Instead of cutting the garden:

if the handful of herbs is on-stage:

say "You already grabbed some herbs. You don't need any more.";

stop;

now the player carries a handful of herbs;

say "You rip off a handful of the best smelling plant in the garden[paragraph break](you now have a handful of herbs.)".

a handful of herbs is a thing. The description is "You're no botanist. All you can tell is they look like herbs, and they smell good."
