Section 2 - The Kitchen

The Kitchen is a room.

The description of the kitchen is "A spacious kitchen with marble countertops and sinks, and a large stainless steel refrigerator on the far wall, with a matching oven next to it."

The kitchen contains a counter called the marble countertop. On the marble countertop is a microwave oven. A microwave oven is an oven. The description of the microwave oven is "The clock is blinking 12:00 PM". It is fixed in place. The kitchen contains a sink called the marble sink. Understand "counter" or "counter top" as the countertop. Understand "microwave" as the microwave oven.

After switching on the stove for the third time, record "Persistent" as achieved.

After switching on the stove's oven for the third time, record "Persistent" as achieved.

After switching on the microwave for the third time, record "Persistent" as achieved.

After switching on the the sink for the third time, record "Persistent" as achieved.

The microwave oven contains a glass plate. The description of the glass plate is "Used to rotate food in the microwave so that it cooks evenly."

broken plate is a broken glass.

After dropping the beer:

say "You clumsy fool, that was made of glass![paragraph break]You drop microwave turntable, and it shatters.";

remove the plate from play;

now the broken plate is in the location;

record "Vandal" as achieved;

In the kitchen is a refrigerator called the large stainless steel fridge. A bottle of beer, a lemon, a banana, an apple, a sandwich and a raw steak are in the fridge. the lemon, apple and sandwich and the steak are edible.

After eating the steak:

say "You don't feel so good";

end the story finally saying "You have died alone of dysentery";

The description of the beer is "A cold bottle of beer. Shame it's not a twist off cap."

shattered bottle is a broken glass.

After dropping the beer:

say "You clumsy fool, that was made of glass![paragraph break]You drop the bottle of beer to the floor, and it shatters into a million pieces spilling beer everywhere.";

remove the beer from play;

now the shattered bottle is in the location;

record "Vandal" as achieved;

The description of the sandwich is "A roast beef sandwich. Smells like it's still fresh."

The description of the lemon is "A perfectly ordinary military-spec lemon." After eating the lemon, say "Somehow you manage to eat the entire lemon in one bite. That's as disturbing as it is impressive."

The description of the banana is "A whole, ripe banana." After eating the banana, say "Didn't you want to peel it fir…[paragraph break]Never mind."

Instead of opening the banana:

Remove the banana from play;

Say "You rip off the banana peel and toss it aside, then eat the banana.";

now a banana peel is in the location.

Understand "peel" as Opening.

The description of a banana peel is "As seen on TV!"

In the fridge's freezer compartment is a chilly pair of socks, and a tub of ice cream.

Instead of eating the ice cream, say "It's frozen solid, so you can't just grab a handful of it."

The chilly pair of socks is a pair of socks. The description is "[if player is wearing the socks]Actually, putting them in the freezer was a good idea. It makes your feet feel tingly.[otherwise]How they wound up in the freezer would be an interesting story to hear."

The kitchen contains a stove called the stainless steel stove. Understand "matching stove" or "metal stove" as the stove. Understand "stove's oven" or "stove oven" as the stove's oven.

On the countertop is a knife block. The knife block contains a fine set of kitchen knives. The knife block is transparent and open. The description of the knife block is "A wooden knife block [if block contains knives]containing[otherwise]designed to hold[end if] a fine set of kitchen knives." The description of the knives is "A fancy looking set of [if handled][italic type]very[roman type] sharp [end unless]kitchen knives."

Before taking the knives, say "Careful where you put those!"

Does the player mean doing something to the microwave oven's switch: it is unlikely.
